Giving Your B.E.S.T to Safety - The B.E.S.T. Building Effective Safety Teams™ Program
purpose is to bring about a proactive cultural change in the way safety is viewed within
organizations.


The program was designed to interact in all aspects of the organization to bring about inclusive
employee engagement focused on the safety & risk management core values within the
organization. To achieve these goals, we concentrate on proactive strategies to fuel the basics
of ensuring a safe working environment. Embracing OSHA’s “Right to Understand” as the
cornerstone component, we developed this throughout the policies, procedures, instructional
design of our training and development programs. Working with our insurance business
partners, we measure, and review program needs for continuous improvement.

Results


When a client implemented this program, in conjunction with the insurance carrier we saw an immediate change in the reduction of incidents, improved quality performance and reduced the Employer Modification Rate, EMR from 1.10 to 0.69 thus reducing workers compensation premiums over that 5-year period along with state rebates saving $1.3 million dollars. With team engagement, and continuous improvement measures, we are successful in reducing incidents and premiums while creating innovative fun team competition incentives and processes.
